MSEL delegates playing the game 'Scrambler'

Middle School Experience in Leadership delegates play the teambuilding and problem-solving game "Scrambler". In "Scrambler," participants must successfully navigate each team member through a grid-like maze without talking. If participants step on a "scrambler" square, the maze resets and the team must start over.

MLW's programs provide unique opportunities for students to grow by developing the skills of leadership. Students actively learn about such topics as:

  • Group Dynamics
  • Team Building
  • Self Awareness
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Diversity Awareness
  • Ethical Decision-making
  • Leadership Styles
  • Time/Stress Management
  • Public Speaking
  • Motivation
  • Project Management
  • Public Relations
  • Delegation

Most importantly, students have many opportunities to actually apply the skills they are learning through the various activities and projects they plan and implement during our week long summer programs.

    FEATURED CURRICULA: COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Communication skills are among the many topics addressed in our programs. Active listening and giving/receiving feedback are two aspects of this skills set that every leader, young or old, must learn to master.

Think you know it all? Put your knowledge to the test by taking our Communication Skills quiz.
